Our Inspiration for Zara
We come from a family of girls - feisty, sassy, and full of giggles. But when we looked at the books and media around us, something was missing: where were the superheroes who looked like them? The brave, brown girls who could save the world with their courage, kindness, and sparkle?
And that’s how Zara was born, a superhero inspired by the personalities of our girls. Zara is curious, bold, and driven by a sense of justice that makes her leap into action when something isn’t right.
We wanted her stories to be more than magical adventures. We wanted them to matter, to tackle real-world environmental and social challenges in a way that children could both understand and feel empowered to change. Through fantasy, we hope to open young minds to important truths about the world around them.
In this first adventure, Zara faces the devastating issue of wildlife poaching. South Africa’s rhinos, pangolins, elephants, and other precious creatures are disappearing at an alarming rate. By shining a light on this crisis, we aim to raise awareness and inspire children to be guardians of the Earth, just like Zara.
So, dive in and join our hero as she battles villains, protects animals, and shows that even the smallest hands can make a mighty difference. Enjoy the adventure and remember, heroes come in every shade.
